Coleman blasts 6.37 world record in the 60 meters

World silver medalist Christian Coleman got his 2018 off to a roaring start Friday at Clemson as he broke Maurice Greene's 20-year-old world record in the indoor 60 meters. RESULT

Coleman clocked 6.37 seconds to break the record. Greene, the only man previously to have broken 6.40, ran 6:39 on two occasions -- on Feb. 3, 1998 and March 3, 2001. 

Coleman is in his first year as a pro after a dominant junior season at the University of Tennessee in 2017. Coleman, who captured a silver medal in the 100 meters at the IAAF World Outdoor Championships in London last summer, was named the Bowerman Award winner last month. INTERVIEW

Coleman had a personal best of 6.45 seconds in the 60, when he set the collegiate record last year at the NCAA Division 1 Indoor Track and Field Championships.
